| Characteristics of GOHSENOL |
| GOHSENOL has been used as a warp
sizing agent and as a fabric processing resin. |
| GOHSENOL as a warp sizing agent, has excellent
film forming properties. The obtained films have
excellent flexibility, tough tensile strength,
and good elasticity giving excellent resistance
to wear, smoothness, and fluff binding properties.
Additionally, as compared with starch, the possibility
of decomposition or putrefaction is very low,
and fungi rarely develop. Furthermore, G type
GOHSENOL particularly, has excellent water-solubility
and can be easily desized. |
| Applications as a Fabric
Treating Agent |
Thermosetting resins such as urea-formaldehyde
and melamine-formaldehyde resins are used for finishing
of fabrics for shrink-proofness and crease resistance.
As GOHSENOL chemically crosslinks with thermosetting
resins, the addition of 5-10 weight % of GOHSENOL
to thermosetting resins is effective for avoiding
reduction due to finishing of tear strengths of
finished fabrics.
On the other hand, GOHSENOL is popularly used alone
or in combination with urea-formaldehyde and melamine-aldehyde
initial condensates. It has also been used as a
finishing agent for white fabrics, plain dyed fabrics,
and printed fabrics, because rigid and transparent
looking finishes are obtained even with a low GOHSENOL
addition. |
